Joy Baer was inspired as a child by a National Geographic magazine's article on Pompeii, Italy and the famous frescoes. Today Baer teaches fresco workshops in Pompeii. Her frescoes are found in museums, corporate and private collections and public art.

Baer creates spiritual frescoes in the time-honored process using fresh earth minerals and fresh water painted onto porous surfaces. A chemical bond called Carbonization is formed, which may endure for centuries.

Following the historic frescoes found in cultures around the world, Baer creates frescoes on plaster, stone, marble, cement and brick. A fresco casein is created on treated canvas. her frescoes range in size from 10 x 8 inches to 240 square feet installations.
